SBD International Airport Names New Airport Manager

San Bernardino International Airport Authority has announced the appointment of Mr. Nikolas Persson for the position of Airport Manager.

(April 4, 2018 – San Bernardino, CA) San Bernardino International Airport Authority has announced the appointment of Mr. Nikolas Persson for the position of Airport Manager. With over 10 years of experience in airport operations, Mr. Persson is adept in leading a growing team in the day-to-day functions required of a commercial airport  focused on safety, security, regulatory compliance, facilities management and construction activities.

Mr. Persson received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Administration from California State University at Los Angeles and has years of experience in airport operations, most recently at John Wayne Airport from 2010 – 2018, and previously serving Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, Colorado dating back to 2008.

As SBD’s Airport Manager, Mr. Persson will oversee rapid growth in airfield activity where he will be responsible for organizing and overseeing airside and landside operations.

“Nikolas Persson’s experience at a thriving commercial airport has prepared him for the strong growth taking hold at SBD,” says Mr. Mark Gibbs, Director of Aviation at SBD International Airport. “His keen understanding of the federal regulations governing airport management and the intricacies of both internal and external customers will be instrumental in his role at the Airport.”

Mr. Persson also holds an AS in Commercial Flight from Mt. San Antonio Community College and is certified by the American Association of Airport Executives in both Advanced and Basic Airport Safety and Operations. He is also a private pilot and is ICS-100, 200, 300 and ICS-700 certified. He has replaced Ms. Liliana Valle, who recently accepted a position overseeing the Airport District for Riverside County.
